It is established that the Earth is warming, climate change is caused by the steady rise of temperature in our atmosphere and oceans, this is also known as global warming. Energy from the sun that enters the Earths atmosphere is reflected back into space but some is absorbed by greenhouse gasses which radiates the energy to create heat. Greenhouse gasses have been on this planet since it was formed, they keep life on Earth living. Without greenhouse gasses in our atmosphere the Earths temperature would be to cold for life to live on (climate kelpie 2016 ©). The greenhouse effect is a process that naturally warms the Earths surface. It makes the Earths climate warm enough for life to live on. The enhanced greenhouse effect is produced by humans, most of the energy that we consume emits carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide emissions are blamed for the Earths average rising temperature because of the increased concentration of greenhouse gas in the atmosphere (ozcoasts 2008 ©). As shown in figure 1 the enhanced greenhouse effect absorbs too much energy from the sun causing the Earth to warm up. Global warming is the term used to describe the Earths average increasing temperature. Ever since the Industrial revolution in the 1800’s the greenhouse gases have mad the Earths temperature increase 0.9oC.
